Coaster shapes and sizes

The stock shapes are a 3.5″ diameter circle, a 4″ x 4″ square, a hexagon, and a 2.5″ diameter car coaster. Beyond those we carry die-cut shapes: heart, house, phone, flower, tooth, shamrock, balloon, oval, bone, box truck, piggy bank and awareness ribbon. The dies already exist, so a shaped coaster costs the same as a round one. There is no reason to default to a circle if a shape fits your message.

Plain cork versus full-color acrylic top

A plain cork coaster is printed directly on the cork, which gives a muted, natural look and absorbs condensation. A full-color coaster is 1/16″ cork with a 60 mil acrylic top: the artwork sits under the acrylic, colors stay accurate, and the surface wipes clean. The acrylic version costs noticeably more and does not absorb. Pick absorbency or color accuracy, you do not get both.

Sets, tins and mailer cards

Coaster sets in a square or round tin and boxed sets work as a standalone gift. The Tek Booklet and Post Card items mount a coaster on a printed card so the whole thing goes in an envelope at letter rate, which is the cheapest way to put a coaster in someone’s hand by mail.

Bigger than a coaster

The same cork sheet is cut into 8 x 8 trivets, round, square, rectangle and bone shaped cork mats, and hardback cork-backed placemats sold singly or in a two pack. A trivet takes a hot pan; a coaster does not, and a cold glass on a thick trivet is wasted material. Match the thickness to the job.

Minimums and lead time

Coaster minimums are the lowest on this site, starting at a dozen pieces on some lines, and production is roughly five working days after art approval. That makes coasters the usual choice when a category minimum elsewhere is out of reach for a small event.
